Worthington's Doug Reed waited patiently, and he was rewarded handsomely. One by one, Reed watched as Tanner Jones, Kathy Duguay and Mike Slosek clinched their Junior, Women and Men Player of the Year awards within the last month. Reed finally captured the 2007 Senior Player of the Year on Oct. 2nd, although he didn't even have to touch a club to do it.

Stockbridge's Jim Finnerty entered Tuesday's final round of the Mass. Senior tied for 15th, four shots back of a four-pack of leaders. He needed to finish solo 3rd or better to overtake Reed, the defending Senior POY. But Finnerty slumped to a day two 86 and finished 43rd with a group of players that included Wyantenuck's Del Kinney (80-84). Wyantenuck's Bob Brunetti (77-85) tied for 35th and paced all local players.

"I've been watching," Reed said with a smile after hearing that Finnerty was unable to catch him. " I was just thinking if he played well, that was fine."

Reed did not play in this week's Mass. Senior, but his performance earlier this summer carried him to his 2nd consecutive Senior POY award. He won a pair of Berkshire County Senior Association Series events and finished 5th in the Greenock Senior Open three weeks ago to earn 42.5 crucial points and increase his margin over John Morawiec, who finished 2nd in the standings.

"I'm glad I won it again," said Reed, 58. "I could have played a little better in certain tournaments, but I'm happy."
