Chris Baran: 8th, 2005 Men’s POY Standings

I am a member at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown, Massachusetts and my handicap is a 2.  I play as much as I can (without upsetting the wife too much!) and I really love the game of golf. 

My lowest round is a 64 at North Adams County club.  This tied the course record and I have 9 Club Championships there as well. 

On January 2nd, I had an emergency appendectomy that kept me from being able to travel somewhere to get some swings in, as I am usually able to do.  Therefore, all parts of my game are a bit rusty but I’m working to overcome that.  My goals this year are to play consistently throughout the year and hopefully win some tournaments. 

My favorite golf event of the year is the North Adams Invitational Singles.  Following a round of golf, I enjoy indulging on an order of hot wings with a side of Miller Lite. 

My best time on a golf course is a toss up between sharing the course record at North Adams County Club (with 10 birdies), or winning the North Adams Singles last year… finally! 

The toughest hole for me is #17 at Taconic Golf Club.  The green on that hole is tough. 

I thought about what would be my favorite hole and I can't seem to decide on one.  My dream foursome would be playing with Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Gary Player.  I would choose Tiger over any other player; he is an amazing player—It doesn't get any better.  As for the women, I would choose Paula Creamer over Michelle Wie.  I prefer to play golf in the morning and to walk rather than get a cart. 

I don't go to the driving range much, don't get to pitch and putt, but greatly enjoy playing many rounds of miniature golf with my 4 year old son.  I am a Titleist guy all the way.  My favorite club is the 2-iron or 3-iron (would choose them over any wood).  As for who would win the US Open, I would choose the field over Phil and Tiger.  There are way too many good players to rule them out.  My favorite golf publication is Golfweek and I enjoy watching ESPN on television.
