Matt Donovan: April 7
Truth be told, I can't wait for May to get here.
It has been much of the same for me this winter in south Florida.
Back in October I resumed my duties as a "looper" at Seminole golf club and will continue to go strong through the month of April. Obviously, carrying golf bags is not the ideal path to take for a professional golfer trying to make it on tour, but stranger things have happened. Looping at Seminole has been a great way for me to meet many wonderful people and make great connections. But more importantly it has allowed me to make the kind of money necessary to play full time in the summer.
My plans this summer will vary a little from the last couple years. I will be returning back to New England this May but only to play a half season (5 tournaments) on the New England Tour now know as the North American Golf Tour. I will stay consistent with many of the state opens and regional events but instead of being locked down in one spot for the whole year I wanted to leave a little space in my schedule for some variety if I choose to play elsewhere.
I feel like my game has been in pretty good shape this winter. Due to my work schedule time management has been crucial as to where, when and what I practice. As a result I tried to focus more on quality then quantity. My putting, wedges and mental approach are what I tried to improve most. I feel confident that when the bell rings and its time to tee it up I will be ready.
As always I look forward to new challenges and what lies ahead.
