Chris Marinaro: Current St. Leo star My golf season has started once again. This year, it’s going to be a lot more exciting then last year. I say this because I know what I have to do this year: step up my game. Last year, I was a freshman and didn’t really know what was in store for me. This year, I know what I have to do to be a competitor and get my game where it should be. I am also really excited for this upcoming season because of all the road trips and tournaments that we'll be going on. My teammates and coaches are really great because of all the great support they give one another, when were on trips and off the golf course. It seems like all the effort and hard work over the years is starting to pay off. It’s not exactly all clicked yet, but I can see a dramatic change in my game from over the years. I know now that every time I play a tournament, I have a chance to win. This summer was a good summer for me because I started playing in all the big tournaments, so I can build my game up for college. This summer I also learned how to play the game. I know a lot of people think they can play, but it’s a lot harder when you’re at a high level of golf. Knowing how to play the game has helped me a lot and I know what I have to do now for college. I am very anxious to see what my up coming college season will bring for me and my team. We have played in a few tournaments already this year. I played alright in a few of them, but it truly wasn’t as good as I wanted them to be. I was tied for 5th in one of my tournaments after two rounds. I was looking to play well the last day and make a run at it. It was my home course, so I really felt confident going into my last round. But, when it came down to it, I didn’t really play well. I didn’t play well because I haven’t been in that position in a really long time. I know now what I have to do, when I am in the position again. For me, its all about playing the course and not concentrating on the players around you. College golf is going by so fast and before you know it, it will be over. My team never really has had great success. But this year is going to be the year that Saint Leo University will start to make a run. We recently just had our last tournament and we came in second, which was pretty sweet. We started of a little bit shaky, but I am very confident with my team that we'll pull it together for the upcoming spring season. I am really looking forward to an awesome year! |
